Cotton came about after fielding many customer requests for an expanded fibre range (yes, we read them all!) and a lengthy two-year development process to find just the right weave. Our GOTS Certified Organic Cotton takes everything we love about linen &#x2013; like breathability and durability &#x2013; and translates it to cotton, all underpinned by our same environmental ethos and commitment to outstanding quality.

Is cotton bedding right for me?

Our 200-thread count cotton is light, breathable, and soft—perfect for a restful night’s sleep.

Contrary to what you might think, thread counts have little bearing on the quality of your bedding. In fact, higher thread counts often indicate a less breathable fabric with more threads densely woven in a thicker, sturdier fabric. We designed our cotton for optimum air circulation with a 200-thread count weave, so it feels light and breathable but still ultra-smooth and soft.

What is the thread count of your cotton?

Our cotton is grown in Turkey and ethically made in China, fully certified by GOTS.

Our 100% Organic Cotton is sustainably cultivated in Turkey, a region with a rich history in high-quality cotton production thanks to its perfect growing conditions. It is then turned into sets in China under ethical working conditions. Every step in the process &#x2013; from picking to spinning and stitching &#x2013; is vetted by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) to ensure the criteria for their gold standard certifications are met.

Not always &#x2013; there&#x2019;s a huge variety of cotton types available, which is why it&#x2019;s important to know the origins of yours. Bed Threads is committed to responsible sourcing and manufacturing, which is why our Organic Cotton passes the GOTS certification test. All GOTS-approved fabrics must include 70%+ organic fibres, zero harmful substances and promote sustainable practices and fair working conditions in their production. No pesticides, chemicals or genetic modifications occur when growing organic cotton.

When it comes to caring for cotton, less is more &#x2013; simply wash before first use on a warm, gentle cycle with a mild liquid detergent only (we suggest our Gentle Wash Laundry Concentrate), and sleep happily ever after.

How do I wash cotton?

Line drying is best, but tumble-drying on low also works. Avoid bleach and dry-cleaning.

Line drying is preferable &#x2013; it&apos;s not only good for your bedding, but the environment, too. If tumble-drying, limit to low settings and avoid overloading the machine. Warm iron if needed. Do not bleach or dry-clean, and if your bedding happens to stain, launder immediately.
